How Motion Photos Work

Motion photos capture a brief moment of movement before and after a still image is taken. This combines short video and audio clips with the still photograph, creating a dynamic, “living” image.

Availability and Future Updates

While this feature is currently in development for Android users, Apple users will eventually experience motion photos as Live Photos on WhatsApp for iOS.
